About UsOur rugs start out at our small alpaca farm in South Scappoose, Oregon. We have 8 healthy and happy alpacas that are named after a few of our favorite visual artists such as “Jacob” Lawrence, “Jackson” Pollock, and Claude “Monet” to name a few. Each spring, our friends from Washington drive down to sheer these guys. It’s an entire day of hard work, good food, and lots of laughter that ends with 8 funny-looking guys that have lost their winter coats. We then pack and ship our fleece to a fiber mill in a very small ranching community in West Texas that has been creating handwoven rugs for 38 years. These experienced weavers have been creating wool rugs from West Texas sheep for decades. Austin feels very fortunate to have a piece of West Texas in each of our rugs. This is our fourth year to have rugs created from our alpacas and no two rugs are ever alike. These handwoven rugs have a ‘one of a kind’ look and feel. The alpaca fiber is spun around a jute core which gives the rug years of durability and allows the rug to be reversible. There are no dyes used on the fleece. It’s 100% natural.
